The training programme titled “The ReGeneration Initiative: AI 360º School”, a collaboration between Microsoft and ReGeneration (an initiative of the Global Shapers Athens Hub NPO), is the largest nationwide initiative offering free Artificial Intelligence skills training. It aims to equip participants with the most in-demand, cutting-edge knowledge, enabling them to practically apply Artificial Intelligence to address real-world business challenges. The Programme was addressed to young university graduates from all academic disciplines and, for the first time, to individuals up to 55 years old, with or without a background in STEM and/or Computer Science.
The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation supported the Programme as a Strategic Donor. Implemented in 2024, the Programme comprised 3 training levels from which participants could choose according to their knowledge, goals, and learning objectives:
Non-STEM Path – This learning track was addressed to participants with an academic background outside the STEM fields and aimed to familiarise them with the fundamental concepts, processes, and tools of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
STEM Path – Α learning track addressed to participants with an academic background in STEM fields. Through the training sessions, they developed the necessary skills to design and effectively implement Machine Learning models for a variety of applications.
CS Path – This training path was primarily addressed to participants with an academic background in Computer Science. Through the seminars, they delved deeper into Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and General Artificial Intelligence concepts and tools, gaining the knowledge and skills required to use the Python programming language and other relevant tools to efficiently train and optimise AI models.
A total of 959 individuals were trained through the Programme, with women representing 61% of participants.
A total of 12,000 applications were submitted for participation in the Programme.
A total of 9,000 individuals participated in an evaluation process through an online psychometric tool and received personalised feedback aimed at enhancing self-awareness and improving their mathemativcal and analytical reasoning skills.
“What moved me during the training was the sense of solidarity within the group. I gained confidence, and I think my LinkedIn profile really improved — I actually had no idea how it worked before — and that’s how I eventually got discovered for my new job.”
