The environmental rural landscape is a dynamic unit that changes and evolves in space and time as a consequence of the interaction of human and natural factors. The choices of human beings in both individual and social level are affected by the social-economic, cultural and historical conditions that are determinative factors for the configuration of the city environment from the perspective of sustainable development.

The aim of this project is:

  1. the investigation of the evolution of the environmental landscape of the city of Alexandroupolis and
  2. the examination of the ecological, historical, societal and economical factors that affected its configuration, as tool for the environmental education for the environment and sustainability.
