Ιn the framework of its strategy to support, among others, programmes that empower Vocational Education students, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation supported for the third consecutive year the successful programme “Empowering Vocational Education students” in the framework of its strategic partnership with The Tipping Point NPO. During the school year 2023-2024, the Programme was extended to more Vocational High Schools across Greece, offering students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of technical professions through engaging discussions and useful career advice shared by successful professionals serving as mentors-role models. Through experiential learning and the use of technology, students explored new career opportunities and alternatives within their chosen fields, became familiar with the key skills required for their specialisation, and gained a realistic view of the labour market through direct interaction with its representatives. At the same time, participants cultivated soft skills such as active listening, critical thinking, and collaboration, and developed greater confidence in their abilities in order to prepare themselves in a structured and mindful way to achieve their future goals.
In the school year 2023-2024, 188 live group sessions were held, involving 507 Vocational High School students and 36 teachers.
85 mentors talked with the students via videoconference and answered 527 questions.
Students from 15 Vocational High Schools in both urban and remote areas of Greece, including Patmos, Kalamata, Skiathos and Xanthi were informed about disciplines and professions such as Architecture, Agricultural Science, Information Technology, Cooking, and Maritime Professions.
