“Future Leaders Series” Programme | 2024

Having identified education as a key sector for a modern and cohesive society, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation supported for the third consecutive the “Future Leaders Series – Thrace” programme, an innovative programme designed and implemented by Alba Graduate Business School in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of the Democritus University of Thrace. The Programme, which took place in June 2024 at the facilities of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, was addressed to secondary school students (aged 15-17) attending public school units in Komotini, placing this year a special focus on the theme of Diversity and Inclusion.

The aim of the Programme, which was jointly supported by Sunlight company (member of the Olympia Group), was to prepare the students for the demanding professional field in the new digital transformation era and the ongoing changes in the economy, society and the business sector. Through targeted activities and experiential workshops, participants cultivated essential skills such as leadership, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and solidarity, while also strengthening their seld-awareness and self-confidence by recognising the importance of physical and mental well-being. During the summer school, students attended a series of theoretical and hands-on courses, visited local industries and participate in team sports activities.

  • 28 students from Public Junior High Schools and High Schools of Komotini, 15 parents/companions and 10 volunteer postgraduate students from the Democritus University of Thrace participated in the Programme.

“This Programme represents a blend of collaboration, co-creation, and teamwork. The professors and volunteer students of the Democritus University of Thrace work together with the Alba team and all stakeholders involved in the Programme to combine theory with practice and to highlight fundamental values such as creativity, resilience, empathy, and trust.”
