The devastating fires that affected much of the country in August 2007 led the Foundation in the design and implementation of the program "It is our duty", the main axes of which was on the one hand the restoration of fire-stricken areas and on the other hand the prevention of similar situations in the future.
In this context, among other activities, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and Eurobank EFG implemented studies and the improvement and restoration works of the Environmental Awareness Park 'Antonis Tritsis'
The Environmental Awareness Park 'Antonis Tritsis' expanding in an area of 1,150 acres is the largest organized green park in the urban fabric of Athens. The existence of the liquid component in a large area of the Park, both in the form of six artificial lakes and an artificial canal, which ensures the flow of water between the lakes and its recycling, as well as its rich flora and fauna park, make this a truly rare treasure of natural beauty. This park is especially valuable for the residential fabric of western Athens and of the entire Attica.
Also the Hellenic Ornithology Society operates within the Park, organising various educational programmes for students of Attica schools of all levels (kindergartens, primary and secondary schools).
