The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation continued its collaboration with the Hellenic Institute of Advanced Studies (HIAS), supporting for the third consecutive year a series of initiatives designed and implemented by the organisation in July 2024. The aforementioned initiatives included: the 3rd Annual Symposium entitled “Bridges in Sustainability”, that was held at the Conference Center the Eugenides Foundation with the participation of top researchers and distinguished scientists from Greece and the diaspora, who discussed on the promotion of research and innovation, as well as the three-day summer school on Artificial Intelligence entitled “AI Summer School” held at the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” aimed at introducing undergraduate students from all scientific disciplines to the potential and applications of Artificial Intelligence. The aim of these activities was to create a meeting point between science and society, to foster networking and collaboration between the academic and research community in Greece and the diaspora, and to present the latest innovative break throughs in fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability.
50 people attended the 3rd Annual Symposium, which was structured in 4 sections: Energy Transition, Education, Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability, Sustainable Industries, and Adaptation and Resilience.
480 students attended the three-day “AI Summer School”.
“The contribution of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation was crucial not only because it covered operational expenses for the Symposium and other related events, but also because it demonstrated the willingness of a distinguished Foundation to support the challenging endeavour of HIAS. It is of great importance for Greek scientists of the diaspora, as well as young Greek researchers, to witness the commitment of Greek public benefit foundations to building bridges of collaboration.”
