Public Call for Two Library Fellowships | American School of Classical Studies at Athens 2015-2016

Two John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation Library Fellowships at the Blegen and Gennadius Libraries will be awarded to young librarians to hone their cataloguing skills by assisting the librarians of the American School of Classical Studies in creating electronic item records for rare books; cleaning-up bibliographical records of the online library union catalog (AMBROSIA); and providing unique item records for each volume of multi-volume publications and archival material (e.g., encyclopedias, periodicals and archival collections).

Eligibility:  Graduates of Library School with cataloguing experience and knowledge of Marc 21 and/or Unimarc. Successful candidates should demonstrate their command of computer skills and familiarity with relevant library management systems (preferably Ex Libris’ Aleph), as well as excellent knowledge of Greek and English.

Duration:  12 months starting July 1, 2015.

Terms:  Each fellowship carries a stipend of 12,000 euros for 12 months. Fellows will be supervised by and report to the librarians of the Blegen and Gennadius Libraries. A final report is due at the end of the award period.
