UNIVERSITY PRIZES PROGRAMME OF THE FOUNDATION FOR THE REHABILITATION OF ALBANIANS OF GREEK DESCENT

 

2010-2011 ACADEMIC YEAR

The University of Ioannina, in cooperation with the Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Albanians of Greek Descent –which is a member of the network of public benefit Foundations established by the John S. Latsis family– will implement a programme to award 12 prizes (six (6) for undergraduate students and six (6) for postgraduate students) to students of the University of Ioannina who are Albanians of Greek descent, under the title ‘Prizes of the Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Albanians of Greek Descent’ for the 2010-2011 academic year.

 

I. PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAMME

The purpose of the programme is to reward the performance of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University of Ioannina, who are Albanians of Greek descent, and to offer them financial support, taking into consideration social criteria as well.

 

II. GENERAL PARTICIPATION PREREQUISITES

 

FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS:

(a) They must be second-year and above students of any School or Department of the University of Ioannina.

(b) They must be Albanians of Greek descent.

(c) They must have passed at least 80% of the courses specified in the curriculum for the previous academic years, and their average grade must be at least 7.

 

FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS:

(a) They must be enrolled in any postgraduate Study Programme of the University of Ioannina, regardless whether their first degree is from the University of Ioannina, or another Greek or Albanian University.

(b) They must be Albanians of Greek descent.

(c) For first-year postgraduate students: The grade of their first degree must be at least 7.

(d) For second-year postgraduate students: They must have passed all the courses of the first year, and their average grade must be at least 7.

 

III. NECESSARY SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

(a) Supporting documents certifying their performance in the previous years. More specifically:

  • For undergraduate students: transcript of records of the previous years.
  • For first-year postgraduate students: copy of first degree.

• For second-year postgraduate students: transcript of records of the first year of postgraduate studies.

(b) Certificate of family status.

(c) Solemn Declaration of Law 1599/1986 that they have not been convicted and that a criminal prosecution has not been initiated against them for any criminal offence.

(d) Certificate issued by the Service for Aliens or another Public Authority, according to which they are Albanians of Greek descent.

(e) Certificate of permanent residence issued by the competent Albanian Authority, if one or both parents are permanent residents of Albania.

(f) Tax return form of the parents for the two last years (2009 and 2010).

(g) High school graduation certificate.

(h) Any document that proves the existence of social criteria (certificate proving that the family has many children, medical certificate of illness, parent’s death certificate etc.).

 

IV. NUMBER AND AMOUNT OF PRIZES

 For the 2010-2011 academic year, the Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Albanians of Greek Descent will award six (6) prizes to undergraduate students amounting to EUR 2,400 each and six (6) prizes to postgraduate students amounting to EUR 3,500 each.

 

V. DEADLINE FOR THE SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS

The deadline for the submission of applications, together with the necessary supporting documents, expires within 45 days of the first publication in the daily press of the summary of this call.

Applications can be submitted by mail or in person or through a representative at the Processing and Archive Office (Registration) of the University of Ioannina.
