The public health care providers and units that have been pre-selected* for support under the 4th cycle of the "Collaborating for Health" programme for the year 2022 are herewith announced.

The Programme is a joint initiative of the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Greek Shipowners’ Social Welfare Company SYN-ENOSIS. “Collaborating for Health” involves the funding of small and medium scale projects, in order to meet urgent needs in the field of Public Health and to enhance the services of health care providers in Greece through: a) the supply of medical equipment and b) the upgrading of their infrastructure.

After the 3rd cycle of the Programme and taking into account the particularly increased needs of health care providers caring for children and infants, the 4th cycle of the Programme was once more addressed to Children's General Hospitals, General and University Hospitals for the upgrading of their Paediatric Clinics/Departments/Units, Health Centres for the upgrading of their Paediatric Clinics, as well as non-profit legal entities active in the health sector in Greece.  

Particular emphasis was placed on supporting Hospital Units/Departments and Health Centres that provide health services vital for the care of children and infants. Key evaluation and selection criteria were also the extent to which the donation in question is an imperative for the operation of the final recipient of the donation (Clinic/Department/Unit/Health Centre), the correlation between the donation in question and the reduction of inequality in the provision of health care (indicatively: reduction of travel or inconvenience to patients, provision of health care to vulnerable social groups), as well as the contribution to the enhancement of the healthcare provider’s self-efficiency.

The selected health care providers to be supported and the corresponding medical units/departments are listed below:

1. University General Hospital "ATTIKON" - Renovation of premises and supply of equipment to upgrade the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,
2. University General Hospital of Ioannina - Supply of medical equipment in order to upgrade the Neonatal Clinic,
3. General Hospital of Kavala - Supply of medical equipment for the upgrade of the Neonatal Unit for premature newborns of the Pediatric Clinic,
4. University General Hospital of Alexandroupolis - Renovation of premises and supply of equipment for the upgrade of the Pediatric Surgery Wing,
5. General Hospital "Venizeleio-Pananeio" of Heraklion, Crete - Supply of medical equipment for the upgrade of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,
6. General Hospital of Florina - Supply of medical equipment for the upgrade of the Pediatric Clinic,
7. Health Centre of Mantoudi, Evia - Renovation of premises and supply of equipment to upgrade the Children's Emergency Department.

In what follows, the exact number of items offered will be finalised, the specifications of the equipment to be donated will be defined and the procedures and further actions required will be clarified in cooperation with the above-mentioned institutions.
