Support of the programmes “BOROUME at the school” and “BOROUME gleaning” 2015

BOROUME is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2012, aiming to fight food waste and distribute surplus food to those who need it. BOROUME operates as a communication hub between food donors and recipient organisations, by designing and implementing CSR programmes, coordinating food donations from international institutions and sensitising the public opinion and the industries regarding food waste.

The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation supports the work of BOROUME and the two ongoing programmes “BOROUME at the school” and “BOROUME gleaning”. The first includes a series of activities and presentations in schools aiming to inform and sensitise the students about the problem of food waste, and to empower their social conscience. The latter intends to distribute the agricultural production that otherwise would be wasted to charitable institutions.
