On 6 November, the Prix Latsis Universitaires were awarded to Martin Müller from the Université de St-Gall (University of St. Gallen), Aude Peyrot from the Université de Genève (University of Geneva), Albert Schliesser from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne) and Olga Sorkine from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich).

Claudie Haigneré, Doctor, former Minister and Astronaut and President of Universcience, attended this year’s event as guest of honour and gave a lecture entitled ‘Chercheurs, décideurs, citoyens: comment construire ensemble la société de la connaisance de demain?’ (Researchers, Decision-Makers, Citizens: How Can We Build Together the Knowledge Society of Tomorrow?).

The prizes have been awarded every year since 1983 to 4 researchers under 40 years old and amount to 25,000 Swiss Francs each. They are awarded in order to recognise the scientific contribution of the awardees and encourage them to continue their research work.
