The aim of the Foundations is to work collectively, to the best of their ability, to enhance the quality of life for older adults in Greece.
As part of the Programme, a total budget of €300,000 will be allocated, with individual grants of up to €50,000 available for selected projects. The Programme is due to commence in December 2025, with a project implementation period ranging from 8 to 12 months.
Theme of the Call
Greece faces significant challenges due to the rapid ageing of its population, one of the fastest-growing in Europe. Older adults often face limited access to quality healthcare services, particularly in rural and remote areas. In addition, high rates of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders, which require long-term and coordinated care, are prevalent.
Furthermore, the lack of supportive social networks increases the risk of isolation and depression, which in turn negatively impacts the quality of life of elderly individuals. The situation is further aggravated by the understaffing and limited resources in long-term care facilities, which hampers the ability to meet the growing demand for services.
The initiatives supported through this call should address one or more of the following strategic pillars of the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing, which aim to improve the quality of life for older adults and increase their participation in society:
Changing attitudes towards ageing and older individuals
Creating age-friendly environments
Providing integrated and customised healthcare services
