Preventing and addressing violence among children

The Bodossaki Foundation announces the 4th Cycle of the Thematic Grants Programme. Entitled “Safe Together”, the Programme will be co-funded by the Bodossaki Foundation and the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and implemented in 2026-2027, focusing on violence among children.

The Foundations’ joint objective is to contribute to the prevention and tackling of peer-to-peer violence among children, the enhancement of their psychological resilience, and the promotion of a safe, supportive and inclusive environment within schools, families and communities, as well as online.

A total budget of €200,000 will be allocated to the Programme, with grants of up to €50,000 per selected project. Implementation is set to launch in December 2026, with a duration of 8 to 12 months.

Subject-matter of the Call

In recent years, the mental health of minors and their growing exposure to forms of bullying, aggression, social exclusion and other violent behaviours across school, social, and digital environments have increasingly emerged as critical issues demanding a coordinated, multi-layered, and timely intervention.

The rise in violence among minors constitutes a complex challenge that impacts their safety, psychological resilience, school integration, developmental trajectory, and overall well-being. In today’s world, this challenge extends into the digital sphere, where cyberbullying and other forms of aggressive or offensive peer-to-peer behaviour intensify the pressure children face and can place an additional burden on their mental health.

In response to this critical need, and in line with the National Strategy for the Prevention of Violence and the Response to Juvenile Delinquency 2025–2030 “Standing with Children, Standing Against Violence”, and the Bodossaki Foundation Action Plan for Public Health, the Call for Proposals seeks to support interventions that go beyond isolated initiatives, aiming instead to foster holistic and sustainable approaches that target the prevention and tackling of violence among children, while recognizing its close intersection with their mental health, resilience, active participation, and online safety.

 Strategic Action Pillars

To be supported under this Call for Proposals, initiatives must fall under one of the following pillars of intervention:

1. Preventing violence and bullying in both school and non-school settings

2. Providing psychosocial support for children and strengthening their support networks

3. Identifying and managing incidents of violence among children in a timely manner

4. Digital Security

All proposed initiatives must be guided by a child-centred approach that respects the rights, safety, dignity and voice of children. Interventions that promote interdisciplinary cooperation and bridge schools, families, communities, and support services are encouraged. Such initiatives must both ensure equal access for children who are experiencing conditions of increased vulnerability, and incorporate mechanisms for the systematic monitoring and utilization of data to assess their implementation and outcomes. Finally, the proposed projects should ensure the active participation of children in their design, where this is feasible and appropriate.

All applications must be submitted online via the Bodossaki Foundation Programmes Portal (selecting “Thematic Grants Programme”) by Tuesday 30 June 2026 (14:00 Greek time).

Enquiries regarding the Open Call may be submitted by email (to: [email protected]) up to ten working days before the deadline for submissions; all such emails should include the title of the Open Call in their subject line. The Bodossaki Foundation is under no obligation to respond to enquiries submitted after the above deadline.
