The Centre for Life
Centre for Life is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation established in 1991 with an aim to support people living with HIV/AIDS in Greece by providing free social services and legal and psychological support. To this end, the organisation operates a Day Centre, an Info Centre and implements, among others, companionship programmes in order to help towards the socialisation of seropositive people and the information and awareness among general population on HIV/AIDS.
John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, recognizing the significance of the organisation’s work, funded the purchase of necessary equipment.
According to H.C.D.C.P., the cumulative number of reported HIV infections, including AIDS cases, in Greece by 31/12/2013 was 13.622. Among them, 11.191 (82.2%) were males and 2.385 (17.5%) were females. The gender was not reported for a small number of HIV cases.
