The Environment & Sustainability issue area focuses on highlighting the aspect of sustainability and waste reduction as well as supporting innovative, applied, anthropocentric environmental projects.
We aim to address environmental degradation and challenge environmental inequality in people’s lives. We fund organisations that see people and communities as an asset to support the environmental sector’s sustainability and take positive and practical action to address environmental challenges. We are interested in work that exposes and challenges harmful environmental practices at all levels, in both rural and urban settings. We also support work that mitigates the effects of climate change and pollution through community based projects, especially those that can demonstrate both social and economic value, such as renewable energy/resources to reduce fuel poverty. FInally, we support initiatives that encourage communities to enjoy nature and engage to protect it.
