VIADUCT, a communication tool for scientific analysis in heritage
DIADRASIS Interdisciplinary research on Archaeological & Architectural Conservation
2015
The ‘viaduct’ research aims at creating a tool for facilitating communication between heritage experts and heritage scientists. Within the wide world of heritage specialists there is often a communication problem when it comes to dealing with scientific analysis applied on heritage conservation.
- On the one hand researchers, specialists and practitioners do not know the exact potentials of the wide range of characterization analysis & dating methods
- On the other hand the scientific community states that they are often asked to perform analysis, the results of which would not contribute to the specific project.
The comprehension of all the parameters of time, convenience, possible results, budget, etc., will become a guide for both to look into and integrate the appropriate laboratory analysis in their project, promoting the best possible practices. The results, published on paper and for wider dissemination in electronic form, will become the tool of communication.
This project was evaluated and funded as part of the Foundation’s effort to support research teams with all their members being under 40 years old.
