THE FLIPPED LEARNING MODEL IN OUR CLASSROOM. AN INNOVATIVE AND ENTERTAINING TEACHING METHOD AT THE GEOGRAPHY CLASS
1st Primary School of Nikaia
The flipped learning model in our classroom. An innovative and entertaining teaching method at the geography class.
This educational programme was based on the use of the flipped learning model, which focuses on the ability to acquire knowledge outside the typical, traditional boundaries of a classroom. Utilising technology, the implementation of the flipped learning model aimed to actively involve the pupils in the process of acquiring knowledge and the subsequent cooperative team approach, by sharing, reconciling and applying the acquired knowledge and transforming the entire educational process into an fascinating and memorable experience.
The implementation methodology utilised the “Edmodo” online platform, through which the teacher distributed the teaching material and communicated with his/her pupils, achieving maximum interactivity, feedback and evaluation. The model was applied to specific modules of the 5th grade Geography class. This way, Geography became more attractive for pupils who turned into collaborators and researchers of knowledge and developed cooperative skills. In addition, they became familiar with new technologies, using them as a vehicle for the discovery and consolidation of new knowledge.
