The Seventh Planet was the Earth… Exploring our Galaxy
17th Primary School of Agrinio
The programme was based on the exploration of space and more specifically of the Galaxy by the students from the 4th and 5th grades.
A group of students simulated the celestial dome and formed the constellations of Big Bear, Little Bear, Orion, Taurus, Pleiades, Kassiopi and spotted the Syriac star. They then built a telescope which was a robotic device that was programmed to locate the constellations and provide relevant information using the Scratch software. The telescope was installed by students in a model that resembles the area of Agrinio, Lake Trichonida and Nafpaktia mountain. The other group of students built a robotic exploration vehicle that landed on Mars and was programmed to detect strange rocks and analyze them. The model is similar to the planet Mars and the sky dome as seen from Mars.
The activity continued in collaboration with members of the astrophysics associations of Athens and Western Greece.
Classes that participated in the activity: 4th and 5th Grades
