Public call for one-year research projects for the year 2009

The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation invites proposals for one-year research projects for the year 2009.

These projects must:

  • Cover subjects related to the sciences, fine arts and culture.
  • Preferably, be of interest on a local (geographic and social) level in Greece.


Proposal Requirements

  • Projects must have a clearly defined and utilizable end result.
  • Proposals must be submitted by a research group headed by a project coordinator. There are no set requirements for the composition of the research group, although the Foundation encourages proposals from groups made up of young researchers active in regional Greece.
  • Proposals should not be part of a doctoral or postgraduate dissertation and generally should not be pure research work.


Conditions

  • The project’s results may not be exploited for any commercial purpose.
  • The project may be co-funded by other bodies as well.
  • Each group may submit more than one proposal and each group member may participate in more than one groups.
  • Proposals submitted during the corresponding previous year’s call may be resubmitted for evaluation, provided improvements have been made.
  • Proposals may be submitted in either Greek or English.
  • The groups selected will sign an agreement with the Foundation.


Funding
The funding of each research project will be based on an analytical budget, which must be submitted along with all other project material. Maximum funding per project may reach the sum of twelve thousand euros (€12,000), which will include all deductions, taxes etc.


Evaluation—Selection

The proposals will be evaluated by the Foundation’s Scientific Committee. The Foundation’s Executive Board, taking into consideration the Committee’s evaluation, will select 10 (ten) research projects to be funded for the year 2009.

Application Submission Deadline
Applications must be submitted no later than November 14th, 2008; results will be announced by January 16th, 2009.
