Public call for two-year research programmes and one-year research projects for the year 2008

Research Programmes


The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation invites proposals for two-year research programmes in the following scientific fields:


1. Environment with emphasis on water.
2. History with emphasis on the history of institutions in Greece for any period after 1821.
3. Geography with emphasis on human geography (related to Greece and the Balkans).
4. Anthropology with emphasis on social anthropology of local groups.


Eligibility
Applications are welcome from: a) research groups of at least three (3) researchers, two (2) of whom should be post-doctoral researchers coordinated by a senior researcher, or b) post-doctoral researchers applying individually. In both cases, post doctoral researchers must have received their doctorate no earlier than 2002. Applicants must be of Greek nationality.


Grants
The grants to be awarded are the following: Research groups will receive a grant of €80,000 for the two-year research period. Post-doctoral researchers applying individually will receive a grant of €40,000 for the two-year research period. It is stipulated that, in the case of a research group, 75% of the total funding should cover the remuneration of the post-doctoral researchers. Commencement of financing: January 1st, 2008.


Projects

The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation invites proposals for one-year projects, which:

  • Present local (scientific or cultural) interest
  • Involve a small number of researchers – with the participation of students (undergraduate or postgraduate) preferably from regional universities
  • Have a well-defined and utilizable end product


Eligibility
Applications are welcome from groups or individuals. All applicants must be of Greek nationality.


Grants
Each grantee (group or individual) will be awarded the amount of €10,000 for one year.


Application Deadlines

For Research Programmes: August 31st, 2007.
For Projects: July 31st, 2007.
