Opening of the Latsis Foundation 2nd International Summer School 2010

The lectures of the Latsis Foundation 2nd International Summer School, with the collaboration of the Oceanographic Institute of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, begin on July 1st, 2010. The programme is exclusively funded by the Foundation, aiming to bring students together and provide them with updated research regarding the Mediterranean, while at the same time contributing to the development of a new generation of scientists that will be able to study, research and eventually protect the aforementioned marine ecosystems.

28 postgraduate and doctoral students as well as post-doctoral researchers from Greece and abroad, specialised in marine sciences, will participate in this year’s Summer School. Over the course of 2 weeks, they will have the opportunity to attend lectures as well as to discuss the latest research developments with 26 internationally renowned scientists from research institutes and academic institutions in Greece and abroad. Additionally, participants will be offered the chance to attend actual sampling and testing on board the research vessel “AEGEO”.

Furthermore, in order to achieve effective dissemination of knowledge, organisers have decided that six (6) lectures, listed below, will be open to a number of invitees including scientists, representatives of NGOs and other public bodies related to marine sciences as well as the Environment.
